Ionising radiation incidents

It is very important to report radiation incidents to the NRL.

Incidents are differentiated as being either medical (involving the exposure of patients), or non-medical.  The NRL has forms for the reporting of radiation incidents, and these are available from the links below.

Form - involving patient exposures (PDF - 490 KB)

Form - not involving patient exposures (PDF - 490 kB)

Alternatively, in the case of medical incidents involving diagnostic imaging, an incident report can be completed online here.

Sale of x-ray equipment

Section 14 of the Radiation Protection Act 1965 requires that whenever x-ray equipment or other irradiating apparatus (linear accelerator etc) is sold, the seller must notify the NRL on or before the date of sale with the necessary details.  If the equipment is imported directly from overseas, then the buyer must supply the notification.

Notification can be made on this form (PDF - 28 kB).  The form is also available here as a Microsoft Word document.
